Robert J. Johnson, 84, of Fotser Avenue, Coaldale, died Monday in Fountain Springs. He was the husband of Bernadette (Latka) Johnson.

Prior to retiring, he had been employed by the former Bundy Tubing, Hometown, until the plant closed.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late John and Susan (Brennan) Johnson.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua.

A 1942 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, He was also a member of the Coaldale American Legion.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Robert and his wife, Amber of Penscaola, Fla., and Joel of Coaldale; and a daughter, Susanne, wife of Gary Grindley of Huntington, W.V.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Fleming and Rosemary Ward.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Saturday, St. Jerome RC Church, Tamaqua. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., or 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August M.
