Mrs. Florence C. Kovatch

Mrs. Florence C. (Lack) Kovatch, 78, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 17, in the Hometown Nursing Center, Hometown. She was the wife of Joseph J. Kovatch. They were married for 58 years.

She worked with her husband over the years helping with the Kovatch Automotive Dealerships.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Derczak) Lack.

She was involved in many communities over the years. She was a Girl Scout leader; a member of the Carbon Art League; helped with the Nesquehoning Cub Scouts; was very active with the Carbon-Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society ; and was a board member of the Hometown Nursing Center.

Mrs. Kovatch was a charter member and past president of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Nesquehoning.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Joseph J. Jr., and his wife, Angela, and a daughter, Nancy Kovatch-Patton, and her husband, Garry, both of Nesquehoning; a brother Bernard, and his wife, Helen, in Florida; four granddaughters, Alyssa and Ashley Watkins and Courtney and Caitlyn Kovatch; and a stepgrandson, Eric Patton.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter Marie; two brothers, Edward and Michael; and a sister Cecilia.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Nesquehoning, with the Rev. Francis P. Schoenauer officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Contributions in her name may be made to the Carbon-Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Soc. or to the church, c/o the Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home, 57 W. Center St., Nesquehoning, Pa. 18240.
