Mrs. Margaret L. Smith

Mrs. Margaret L. (Clements) Smith of Willing Street, Tamaqua, passed into eternal rest on Monday evening, June 2, in her residence with her family by her side. She was the wife of Daniel L. Smith. They were married for 62 years.

Prior to retiring, she worked for the former Tamaqua Frocks and for other garment factories in Tamaqua.

A Coaldale native, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah (Hoffman) Clements.

She was a graduate of the former Coaldale High School.

The deceased was a member of the American Legion Post 173 Auxiliary, Tamaqua, for 38 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, James L., and his wife, Pat Vanno, of Wylie, Tex., Daniel W., and his wife, Laura Harvey, of Lake Hauto, and Edward C., and his partner, Alton Eidem, of Tamaqua; a sister, Connie Hoffman of Andreas; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, with another expected soon; numerous nieces and nephews; and always a family member, her former daughter-in-law, Diane R. Bieniek Smith, of Tamaqua.

She will also be missed by many young people from Dutch Hill who always called her Mom. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Kate Kleppinger and Sarah Danyo.

Service: Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. Daniel Smith officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
