Joyce M. Shubeck Gabos

Joyce M. Gabos, 68, of 907 Lincoln St., Hazleton, passed away Monday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2008, at Hazleton General Hospital.

She was born in Coaldale, a daughter of the late Steve and Myrtle (Gewehr) Shubeck, and lived in the Hazleton area for most of her life.

She was named salutatori­an of Coaldale High School, Class of 1958, and enrolled and graduated from Ford Business School of Pottsville.

Joyce was a member of United Methodist Church, Coaldale. She enjoyed working outside in her garden and making broom dolls, learning her craft by traveling and attending many craft shows throughout the area.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Thomas Gabos Sr., who died Dec. 13, 2002.

Surviving are her beloved son, Thomas S. Gabos, with whom she lived; brothers, Walter Shubeck, Coaldale; Stephen Shubeck and his wife, Dorothy, Macungie; and John Shubeck and his wife, Rachel, Shoemakersville; a nephew, Stephen Shubeck; and a niece, Valerie Shubeck.

Her funeral will be held Fri­day at 10 a.m. from Hilary J. Bonin Funeral Home, 99 W. Green St., West Hazleton, with the Rev. Burgess Gordon, pas­tor of United Methodist Church, Coaldale, officiating.

Interment will be follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
