Nicholas Demyanovich

Nicholas Demyanovich, 90, formerly of Coaldale and Tamaqua, died Monday in the Hometown Nursing Center, Tamaqua. He was the husband of Victoria (Konski) Demyanovich of Coaldale. They were married for 62 years.

Prior to retiring, he had owned and operated a barber shop at 305 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, and the former lehigh Barber Shop, Allentown. He was also a former barber teacher at Schoeneman's Beauty School, Pottsville.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Gulek) Demyanovich.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford.

A 1937 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Henry Baker Council 2711; and the Coaldale American Legion.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Nicholas in Delaware; a brother, Edward of Lake Hauto; a sister, Ann of Coaldale; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Ann, who died in 1947; two brothers, George and Emil; and two sisters, Mary Demyanovich and Helene Wagner.

The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of arrangements.
