David D. Jones. David Donald "Donnie" Jones, 81, of Ghost Pony Rd., Andover, N.J., and formerly of Coaldale, died Monday, June 1, 2009, at the Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, N.J. Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Jacob and Mary Alice (Pascoe) Jones.He was a retired computer programmer in the insurance industry and last worked for Chubb & Son Corp, of N.J.; and previously worked as a coal miner locally.A 1945 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was a member of First Congregational Church, Coaldale.He was a 1960 graduate of Purdue University.He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 170, Coaldale; and a life member of the VFW Post No. 2833, Kenvil, N.J.He served in the Army during World War II.Surviving is a daughter, Barbara, wife of David Matthews of Andover, N.J.; a son, David, and his wife, Tammy, of Budd Lake, N.J.; grandchildren, Alex Matthews and Rebecca Matthews; sisters, Gloria Boyle of Coaldale and Thelma Martinec of Nesquehoning.He was also preceded in death by four brothers, William, Frank, Ted and Jacob; and a sister, Mary Melley.Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, in First Congregatonal Church, Ruddle St., Coaldale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. Call, Saturday, 9-10:30 a.m. in the August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale.
