Norman H. Richards



Norman H. Richards, 87, of Lecanto, Fla., formerly of the Coaldale area, died Sunday, Aug. 8, in Bradenton, Fla. He was the husband of the late Lois (Chase) Richards, who died in 1977.

Prior to retiring, he had served as a Schuylkill County District Magistrate.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Norman and Hilda (Kern) Richards.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Richards was a member of First Congregational Church, Coaldale.

A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Inverness, Fla., the Coaldale Rod and Gun Club and the Coaldale American Legion Post.

Surviving are a son Norman, and his wife, Linda, of Jim Thorpe; three daughters, Hilda, wife of Ronald Berezniak of Parrish, Fla., Lois of Coaldale and Joan, wife of Joseph Oliver of Coaldale; three brothers, Evan of Coaldale, Clarence of Lecanto and Ronald, and his wife, Dorothy, of Allentown; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Huynh; and a brother, Col. William.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, First Congregational Church, Coaldale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Arrangements by August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale. Contributions in his name may be made to the church.
