Thomas J. Dally Sr.

Thomas J. Dally Sr., 85, of Miner Street, Coaldale, died Monday, Aug. 30, in Coaldale. He was the husband of the late Mary Alice (Folk) Dally, who died in 2004.

Prior to retiring, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a carrier in Coaldale for 25 years. Previously, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and the L.C.N. No. 11 Mine.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late David and Charlotte (Slack) Dally.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and South Atlantic areas.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, Coaldale.

A 1943 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was a member of the Panther Valley Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons and the Coaldale American Legion Post.

Surviving are a son, Thomas J. Jr., and his wife, Edith, of Tamaqua; a companion, Jean Nunemacher; two granddaughters, Tammy, wife of Shawn Tetreault of Cudjoe Key, Fla., and Stephanie, wife of Vijay D'Souza of Raleigh, N.C.; and three great-grandsons.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, William and David; and a sister, Verna Davis.

Services: Graveside service 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating.
