William B. Jones


William B. Jones, 68, of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at his home on Deer Trail Lane, Lake Hauto, surrounded by his loving family.

A 1960 graduate of Coaldale High School, Bill was also a 1964 graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, and earned his Master in Education from Kean University in New Jersey.

Bill was a math teacher, supervisor, and vice principal in the Union County Regional School District for 38 years, mostly at Jonathon Dayton High School in Springfield, N.J. He later taught at Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, N.J.

Bill was also a football and track coach, and a founding member of T.F.U.B.R. Association, a fraternal order of educators.

His civic activities included: a member of the Green Brook Lion's Club; a member of the Plainfield, N.J., Jerusalem Lodge No. 26 Order of the Free & Accepted Masons; and a member of the Green Brook School Board.

Bill was vice president of D.V.R.A. of Tamaqua and Fairwinds Cove Condo Association in Jensen Beach.

He was born and raised in Coaldale, the son of the late William "Will" and Goldie (Sheaffer) Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marianne (Smith) Jones, and their children William Brian Jones and his wife, Emily, of Alexandria, Va., along with their children, Ingrid and William; and David B. Jones and his companion, Emily Mechesney of Brooklyn, N.Y.

He is also survived by his sister, Credwyn (Jones) Emich and her partner, Ann Strobel of Lititz, Lancaster County.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home Inc., 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011.

Masonic Service, Friday evening at 8 p.m.

Friends may call again 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the First Congregational U.C.C., 128 E. Ruddle St., Coaldale.

Funeral Service will be at First Congregational U.C.C. of Coaldale at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Wayne E. Benack officiating.

Private interment will be at Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
