Coaldale High School Alumni Reunion held in Hazleton

More than 200 graduates of the former Coaldale High School, from classes 1934 through 1968, attended a reunion on June 13 at Best Western Genetti's in Hazleton. The graduates came from 17 states. Awards were given to Jane (Harris) Myers, class of 1934; and August Gulla, and Mary (Paslawsky) Dirnberger, both class of 1937, as the oldest graduates in attendance. Also receiving awards were Edward Sopko, 1954, and Anna (Svok) Kmetz, 1945, for making the first reservations; and Col. Robert Stoffey, Carlsbad, Calif., for traveling the longest distance to the reunion. The Rev. Paul Suda, 1957, offered the invocation and William Gaddes, 1948, conducted a memorial service. Faye R. Lewis, 1948, was the mistress of ceremonies. Following dinner, "The Casuals" presented music for dancing.
